I’m going to be staying in bell cottage just below helvellyn in 3 weeks time and I’m hoping for snow obviously. I’ve only ever done 1 winter route before (broad gully at stob coire nan lochan) but I’m an experienced winter walker. I will have an experienced partner to climb with. Could anyone suggest a grade II ish route in the area please?

if you are looking for routes on Helvellyn then just take your pick. I think you will be lucky for conditions to be any good, but from the tarn you will see a veriaty of prominant lines going up the face to the left of the main bowl on the right. Just take a look to see which you think is in the best condition and go for that, they are all very easy and can be done unroped if you feel confident enough.
